Therapeutic Bodywork
Therapeutic Bodywork helps you maintain and improve mobility and reduce pain. A combination of Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue Massage, Soft Tissue Release, Neuro-Muscular Therapy, Orthopedic Massage, Craniosacral, energy work, and therapeutic stretches... are blended together to get the best results for you. Muscles are lengthened, Trigger Points released, scar tissue released or realigned and joints mobilized.
In all sessions we work together to reduce pain, restore pain free range of motion, and help you to become more structurally balanced. This helps in preventing injuries and restores you to optimal functioning. Any areas of your body can be worked to help you feel better. A series of sessions can be arranged to addresses all problem areas. See how good you can feel!

Myofascial Release (MFR):

Fascia is the connective tissue that gives your body its structural form.
Myofascial Release is a very powerful therapy to change your body; it lengthens muscles and softens connective tissue that has become rigid to increase flexibility and relieve pain. Releasing adhesions of scars can reduce pain.

Repeated Myofascial Release sessions reeducate the nervous and muscular systems to accept changes.
Myofascial Release
addresses restrictions engaging fascia through skin; safe and very effective.

Gentle MFR techniques help people with Fibromyalgia; they’ve reported reduced pain and increased Activities of Daily Living after therapy. Space is created so your tissues can breathe, this reduces pain.

Myofascial Release can help you age gracefully by maintaining mobility and independence, it can benefit the elderly.

Myofascial Release can benefit everyone by releasing fascial restrictions, decreases pain, increasing joint range of motion, and improve your posture.
Myofascial Release activates the Parasympathetic nervous system therefore is relaxing as well as therapeutic.

Scar Release:

Scars are significant causes of adhesions. An adhesion is the abnormal union of adjacent tissues. Restrictions from adhesions of scar tissue cause unnatural lines of stress, postural changes, and pain. Scars cause tissues to pull on each other causing discomfort. Scar tissue can trap sensory nerves and produce local and radiating pain patterns. Some of your discomfort may be caused by scar tissue adhesions from long forgotten surgeries or traumas.

Adjacent body tissues should freely slide past each other. Myofascial Release Techniques restore more natural movement of tissues making you feel better.

The age of a scar does not affect its potential for being released. Releases of scars and associated adhesions have completely eliminated pain.

Neuro Muscular Therapy (Trigger Point Therapy) - Trigger points are very tender (painful) areas in muscles that cause pain in surrounding and distant areas. There are manual methods to release these pain makers to break the Spasm-Pain-Spasm Cycle – Trigger Point Therapy. Trigger Points have been mapped out in reliably predictable patterns by Dr. Janet Travell and Dr. David Simons’. I use their text for reference.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST):

Craniosacral Therapy uses very light touch techniques. This therapy has positive affects not only for the head and spine but also on all body systems including respiratory, musculoskeletal, and nervous. Areas worked include: neck, upper chest, diaphragm, lower abdomen, as well as cranial bones & sacrum. Craniosacral Therapy creates positive change and is very relaxing as well.

I do basic CranioSacral Therapy to help with headaches, chronic pain, tension and many other conditions. For your stress management and Relaxation why not try CST instead of regular (Swedish) massage.

Deep Tissue Massage – Deep Tissue Massage is working with tissues at various layers - superficial to deep - to relax, lengthen and release holding patterns; the emphasis is on altering structure and releasing muscle restrictions. Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage include alleviation of pain with longer lasting results, better posture, more flexibility and fluidity of movement. Deep Tissue work does not have to be painful and can be very nurturing.

Soft Tissue Release (Stewart Taw's British Sports Therapy) - Techniques taught more than 10 years by Stewart Taws based on the traditions of European Osteopathy; it includes specific pressure and stretch techniques with “fast results that are permanent”. Insights are given to problems with treatment solutions, other subtleties are also addressed.

Chair Massage

A blend of techniques from; Acupressure, Stretching, Percussion, and other modalities are combined in a brief massage tailored for your needs. Areas covered can include; shoulders, arms, hands, back, hips, neck, and scalp. Call for more details and to schedule.

Notes from Dave
Some people choose to pay out of pocket for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (i.e. Naturopathic Medicine, Acupuncture, Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork) for their muscular aches and pains; they save money and feel better. We at Professional Therapeutic Bodyworks feel that Allopathic and Complementary modalities should be part of your Personal Wellness Program.
